We talk about real estate, marketing and how she used people telling her to slow down as the fuel behind the success of her brokerage. 0:00 – 9:25 Early Inspiration. Mariah talks about the start of her journey; her own thoughts and her mother. Rather than idolize a celebrity, Mariah has always been very in tune with her own thoughts and goals. She gives praise to her Mother as a strong figure that shaped her life with a simple mindset: stay busy. A big driver of her own growth was realizing it was always her that was holding herself back. By asking herself the right questions, Mariah was able to move from a life of observation to one of action. By looking up to and ultimately following her Mother, Mariah saw a path in the real estate. After a very hard first year and with the support of her spouse, Mariah’s growth went from 0-60 in the following years. She went from selling around 40 houses a year to over 100, to then becoming a team lead to finally starting her own brokerage. 9:26 – 15:05 Key Tips for Real Success in Real Estate. Mariah offers up a few key tips for success in real estate. We talk about her strong inner voice and this fearless drive to keep her eyes on the prize. She shares a timeline of her growth and how putting yourself out there is the first step to start anything. Now she eats, sleeps, and breathes real estate. Her family is all in on her; the spousal support is a foundation of her success. She describes herself as ‘wired to organize’. She tells a quick story that demonstrates her commitment to her clients. While in labor at 4 in the morning with her second child, she was texting clients making sure they were covered. One of the small, but not so small skills that Mariah has mastered is being able to make non-stop decisions with speed. She delves into her mindset of how everything she does is a system and that extreme organization is central to her growth. 15:06 – 24:19 Taking it to TV. Mariah talks about TV and the 7 plus year journey that has brought her into leading Negotiators LUXE and Make It Happen, two shows currently streaming in their first seasons. It was her passion for marketing that drove her growth. She was constantly being copied in the ways she advertised. Other agents would blatantly take her ideas which lead to a point of frustration. To go to the next level, she had to go where others couldn’t; TV. Seeing the big picture is how we navigate life to move closer to our goals. Mariah prides herself on being able to zoom out and see the path to then zoom in and walk it. Her progression in the world of TV started with a big network but she quickly learned that breaking into the world of TV takes time and is filled with disappointment. But then she linked up with Reveel, a third-year streaming service who ultimately gave her a spot on their original series the Negotiators. From there the relationship bloomed into her being featured on a double episode to becoming the host of her own show; Negotiators LUXE. Damien speaks about the new streaming platform Reveel, similar to Netflix but offers advertising for local and national businesses, and the power of creating original content. The group talks about getting messy and getting better. The conversation unfolds into how consistent dedication hits a point of maturation right around the 10-year mark. Commitment and sacrifice are highlighted. 24:20 – 30:53 Building a team. Mariah speaks on the process of working with and training new agents in her brokerage. She keys in on her ability to pour energy into them and the confidence she has in her own uniqueness. She touches upon turnover and doing the 90% of things that unsuccessful agents aren’t willing to do. JJ asks about the tactics that have aided her business growth. The central proponent of her success is her accountability. Mariah then dispels the illusion that real estate is a ‘flexible’ business. This is a 24/7 hustle and that’s how she runs her team. 30:54 – 40:28 Acceleration through accountability. More on her growth and her evolution into being a straight shooter. The discussion shifts to the application of drip campaigns in order to create top of mind awareness online. Personal accountability spills over to all aspects of life when you can see the big picture. On top of that, it’s the hard conversations that allow you to engage in the actions that force you to grow. Mariah touches upon the importance of self-reflection and not getting caught up in the perception of other people. She then tells us what Evolution Now means to her. She takes us through an accelerated timeline of her journey from managing a building complex, to working for others, to figuring things out, to then building a team, to getting her broker's license, to having complete belief in her ability to make anything happen. 40:29 – 50:00 Trusting yourself and learning the lessons. We go into how she maintains her sense of equilibrium through the strong family dynamic of her husband and children. She is in a self-described ‘rest phase’ where she is stepping back to critically analyze all elements in her professional life. She talks about control and increasing efficiency, why a slow market is actually a good thing for her and the challenges and obstacles that came along with opening her own wedding venue just as COVID hit. Damien asks about Mariah’s sleep habits and how to manage high anxiety. Mariah explains how the people who told her to slow down became the very fuel that drove her brokerage into its next level. There is an odd correlation between personal success and the anger/hate thrown towards those who climb up higher than the rest. 50:01 – 53:39 Mariah talks about harnessing her dark side and getting on the other side, the place where she doesn’t let outside opinions affect her. JJ talks about the sales & real estate expert Grant Cardone, keeping a winning mindset, and the running techniques he is using to train for his first marathon. The conversation segways into behavioral patterns. 53:40 – 1:02:33 Mariah tells us what most people get wrong about marketing. JJ on being diplomatic in business and marketing. Wrap up.
