SUMMARY ENP #19 Blog Gabrielle Rosson // She Dares … On the 19th episode of Evolution Now, our guest is Gabrielle Rosson. We talk about filmmaking, building community and her newest film project, She Who Dared. 0:00 – 11:04 Our work as artists. The group discusses how the journey of development is the destination for the artist. By enjoying the work, you progress and evolve. Gabby talks about how creating is who she is and the organic and fluid nature of her creativity. Her journey in filmmaking has involved knocking on a lot of doors and walking through the ones that open. She goes deeper about the process of creation and how creative works exist outside us and we tap into them as a type of translator. Early inspiration. Gabby touches upon her childhood and music career as the precursor to her filmmaking career. She finds inspiration from her children and how paying attention to what they are interested in works into her process. A self-professed lock-key kid, TV was a constant babysitter that planted the seeds for storytelling within her. Her mother also played a key role in shaping her artistic journey and by living in LA as a child Gabby was able to separate the difference between fame and getting to make art. 11:05 – 19:24 JJ talks about some of the similarities he shared in early childhood. The group touches back to the topic of LA, Hollywood and the influence of pop culture. The conversation then moves on to the cinema and how despite the popularity of streaming networks, it shall never die. Gabby’s first creative spark. College was the perfect place to allow Gabby’s true bold nature to emerge. After her ‘lost decade’ she began to put the pieces of her life in order. College not only helped her find her voice, it helped her to use it. She talks about the origin of her career in film and breaks down the essentials of filmmaking. 19:25 – 27:25 Bold nature. A lot of her story involves her taking risks and refusing to quit. She tells us how starting the creative process is synonymous with the learning process. Damien talks about his and Gabby’s working experience and then the role that pain has played in her art. Essential in the entire role of progression as an artist is failure. Gabby holds the belief that failure was the thing that allowed her to grow. Another big part of who Gabrielle Rosson is, is her ability to build and foster community. It’s her need for family and her desire to see others own their boldness that helps her bring like-minds together. The group talks about the positives gained from groups, the importance of networking, and the love she gets from building her chosen family. 27:26 – 35:10 Lois Weber. Gabby dives into her upcoming event and the importance of Lois Weber, the woman whom her upcoming project, She Who Dared, centers on. And despite many things going against her, the opportunity to begin this journey of telling Lois’ story presented itself. It was after a chance call with another New England artist that opened Gabby’s eyes to making it happen. She goes over the initial thought process which led to her attack plan and how it has attracted all the right people and grown larger over time. 35:11 – 44:23 Gabby talks about her October screening event and the challenges of having a live orchestra play alongside her 23 minute proof of concept short film, She Who Dared. The conversation shifts back to the value of networking. Gabby reveals her underlying motivations for telling Lois’ story. We move on to the history of film and how women have been left out of the history books. 44:24 – 52:09 JJ talks about the process and elements of crowdfunding. Gabby expands upon her mission to get her proof of concept made into a feature film. She also talks about heading to LA to market it. Damein touches upon the feminine nature of creativity. Gabby shares her hopes for what the audience could leave her film with. 52:10 – 1:01:11 The group talks about the resilience required to make films. Gabby talks about what comes to mind when she hears the name Evolution Now Project. The podcast ends with a discussion about relaxation and the need for forced relaxation to maintain balance. Gabby shares her favorite quote. Wrap up. CONCLUSION Thanks for checking out our Recap Blog. What's on your mind? Leave a comment below! ENP #17 Blog Gilly “Gillydagod” Wilson // Gilly’s Garden On the 17th episode of Evolution Now, our guest is Gilly Wilson. We talk about his clothing line, becoming sovereign in Costa Rica, and different practices of nutrition and wellness. 0:00 – 9:10 Early sources of inspiration. Gilly speaks about his parents and the large impact they had on his outlook on life. He highlights the saying, “You reap what you sow” as the central principle upon which drives his work ethic. We find out about his journey from Corporate America all the way to Costa Rica and his progression toward becoming more sovereign. As an artist, Gilly has created a clothing line that reflects the message of his inner life; that love is the answer. JJ expands upon that idea; by connecting with other people we can make them feel seen, which ultimately adds more love to the world. Gilly dove deeper into the Ayahuasca ceremony that put him in touch with the mantra of his clothing line. 9:11 – 20:51 The frequency of love. The discussion moves into the power of love, a deeper look at spiritual experiences, and the process of healing. Part of his healing was to spread the message of love and thus the clothing line was born. We learn more about Gilly’s process of making the clothing and his evolution to scale his business into the next level. JJ talks about branding techniques and how using the power of story allows marketing to create movements 20:51 – 27:08 The future. Gilly on the future of his brand. He reflects on the organic growth of his apparel and the buzz created around it by his friends. One of the drivers of his success is that he is living his brand with authenticity, spreading love both through his actions and his business. The discussion moves into the slingshot effect of delayed gratification. When patterns of consistent effort are matched with a sense of alignment, organic growth becomes effortless. By leading with intention the popularity of his apparel in his friends group provided him the inspiration to see a larger vision. JJ touches upon the power of being magnetic. 27:09 – 34:03 JJ talks about the two sides of growth; capitalist v. organic. Gilly and JJ reflect on how they first met, with a high regard for JJ’s warm disposition. The principles of the famous work ‘The Four Agreements’ are discussed along with the idea of working in a surrendered state and operating with a sense of minimalism. 34:04 – 42:35 Know thyself. JJ comes back around to the early part of his and Gilly’s friendship. Gilly explains his inner work; the inner inquiry to always get better. Damien brings up how gratitude can be used to combat fear and explains the qualities of the King Archetype in regard to the positive and negative aspects of masculinity. Gilly talks about parenting and leading a good example for the youth. 42:36 – 49:19 Costa Rican living. Gilly talks about life on the island. We learn of the details that first brought him to Costa Rica and how jumping on a real estate deal allowed him to make the permanent move. He made a major life decision and cashed in by selling his Florida property to maximize his money in a different country. He speaks about the rat race that most Americans seem to be caught up in and the flaws of needing too much. Minimalism. The group discusses why less is more as they move into a conversation about nutrition, extreme diets, and going on ‘feel’. 49:20 – 59:11 Training. Gilly talks about the wide variety of activities he engages in to maintain his fitness. His emphasis is not on training per say, but more so on staying active doing things he enjoys: cycling, yoga, basketball, and calisthenics. JJ talks about his Ayahuasca experience and the message he received; whatever you believe is true. He then goes on to stress the importance of hydration and the idea to ‘eat your water’. To ‘eat your water’ simply means to find hydration through the fruits and veggies you eat which segues into the energy of fruit and why living in Costa Rica is to live in abundance. 59:12 – 1:09:40 Celebration of life. The group talks about the importance of music and how it has changed. Gilly reflects on the evolution of his musical tastes and his path into becoming a recording artist himself. He then explains the name ‘Gilly da God’. Damien speaks upon the importance of the framework of empowerment and the subjective nature of truth. Gilly then gives his interpretation of the name Evolution Now and why no one should wait to start growing. JJ spits a rhyme and drops some knowledge on the history of freestyle. Wrap up. MARIAH KALHOR PREFACE This week your hosts Damien Chinappi and Nate "JJ Wolf" Cantalupo enjoyed a deep dive with Mariah Kalhor. She is an accomplished Real Estate Broker and Television Personality. Enjoy! The following is a summary of the topics discussed in the episode with approximate time stamps. The ideas are paraphrased. To find exact quotes from the hosts and guest, please watch the full episode here above or on our YouTube Channel HERE. SUMMARY On the 15th episode of Evolution Now, our guest is Mariah Kalhor. We talk about real estate, marketing and how she used people telling her to slow down as the fuel behind the success of her brokerage. 0:00 – 9:25 Early Inspiration. Mariah talks about the start of her journey; her own thoughts and her mother. Rather than idolize a celebrity, Mariah has always been very in tune with her own thoughts and goals. She gives praise to her Mother as a strong figure that shaped her life with a simple mindset: stay busy. A big driver of her own growth was realizing it was always her that was holding herself back. By asking herself the right questions, Mariah was able to move from a life of observation to one of action. By looking up to and ultimately following her Mother, Mariah saw a path in the real estate. After a very hard first year and with the support of her spouse, Mariah’s growth went from 0-60 in the following years. She went from selling around 40 houses a year to over 100, to then becoming a team lead to finally starting her own brokerage. 9:26 – 15:05 Key Tips for Real Success in Real Estate. Mariah offers up a few key tips for success in real estate. We talk about her strong inner voice and this fearless drive to keep her eyes on the prize. She shares a timeline of her growth and how putting yourself out there is the first step to start anything. Now she eats, sleeps, and breathes real estate. Her family is all in on her; the spousal support is a foundation of her success. She describes herself as ‘wired to organize’. She tells a quick story that demonstrates her commitment to her clients. While in labor at 4 in the morning with her second child, she was texting clients making sure they were covered. One of the small, but not so small skills that Mariah has mastered is being able to make non-stop decisions with speed. She delves into her mindset of how everything she does is a system and that extreme organization is central to her growth. 15:06 – 24:19 Taking it to TV. Mariah talks about TV and the 7 plus year journey that has brought her into leading Negotiators LUXE and Make It Happen, two shows currently streaming in their first seasons. It was her passion for marketing that drove her growth. She was constantly being copied in the ways she advertised. Other agents would blatantly take her ideas which lead to a point of frustration. To go to the next level, she had to go where others couldn’t; TV. Seeing the big picture is how we navigate life to move closer to our goals. Mariah prides herself on being able to zoom out and see the path to then zoom in and walk it. Her progression in the world of TV started with a big network but she quickly learned that breaking into the world of TV takes time and is filled with disappointment. But then she linked up with Reveel, a third-year streaming service who ultimately gave her a spot on their original series the Negotiators. From there the relationship bloomed into her being featured on a double episode to becoming the host of her own show; Negotiators LUXE. Damien speaks about the new streaming platform Reveel, similar to Netflix but offers advertising for local and national businesses, and the power of creating original content. The group talks about getting messy and getting better. The conversation unfolds into how consistent dedication hits a point of maturation right around the 10-year mark. Commitment and sacrifice are highlighted. 24:20 – 30:53 Building a team. Mariah speaks on the process of working with and training new agents in her brokerage. She keys in on her ability to pour energy into them and the confidence she has in her own uniqueness. She touches upon turnover and doing the 90% of things that unsuccessful agents aren’t willing to do. JJ asks about the tactics that have aided her business growth. The central proponent of her success is her accountability. Mariah then dispels the illusion that real estate is a ‘flexible’ business. This is a 24/7 hustle and that’s how she runs her team. 30:54 – 40:28 Acceleration through accountability. More on her growth and her evolution into being a straight shooter. The discussion shifts to the application of drip campaigns in order to create top of mind awareness online. Personal accountability spills over to all aspects of life when you can see the big picture. On top of that, it’s the hard conversations that allow you to engage in the actions that force you to grow. Mariah touches upon the importance of self-reflection and not getting caught up in the perception of other people. She then tells us what Evolution Now means to her. She takes us through an accelerated timeline of her journey from managing a building complex, to working for others, to figuring things out, to then building a team, to getting her broker's license, to having complete belief in her ability to make anything happen. 40:29 – 50:00 Trusting yourself and learning the lessons. We go into how she maintains her sense of equilibrium through the strong family dynamic of her husband and children. She is in a self-described ‘rest phase’ where she is stepping back to critically analyze all elements in her professional life. She talks about control and increasing efficiency, why a slow market is actually a good thing for her and the challenges and obstacles that came along with opening her own wedding venue just as COVID hit. Damien asks about Mariah’s sleep habits and how to manage high anxiety. Mariah explains how the people who told her to slow down became the very fuel that drove her brokerage into its next level. There is an odd correlation between personal success and the anger/hate thrown towards those who climb up higher than the rest. 50:01 – 53:39 Mariah talks about harnessing her dark side and getting on the other side, the place where she doesn’t let outside opinions affect her. JJ talks about the sales & real estate expert Grant Cardone, keeping a winning mindset, and the running techniques he is using to train for his first marathon. The conversation segways into behavioral patterns. 53:40 – 1:02:33 Mariah tells us what most people get wrong about marketing. JJ on being diplomatic in business and marketing. Wrap up. JENNY "JENERGY" MIRAMBEAU PREFACE This week your hosts Damien Chinappi and Nate "JJ Wolf" Cantalupo enjoyed a deep dive with Jenny "Jenergy" Mirambeau. She is a healer, a fire dancer, and a DJ. The following is a summary of the topics discussed in the episode with approximate time stamps. The ideas are all paraphrased, to find exact quotes from the hosts and guest, please watch the full episode. SUMMARY On the 15th episode of Evolution Now, our guest is Jenny Mirambeau aka Jenergy_flow108. We talk about fire dancing, healing, and spiritual elements of self-transformation. 0:00 – 10:10 Jenny talks about how fire was an early source of inspiration and of creativity in her life. JJ and Damien also make mention of their early experiences playing with fire. One of the aspects that resonates central to Jenny’s life is that of healing. She became aware of these ‘night and day’ shifts in her perception that allow her to find her ‘channeling state’. In this state of awareness she recognized her ability to light other people up in a powerful positive way. Her alignment with this part of herself was a massive stimulant of energy and clarity. Through her own spiritual evolution which relied heavily on shadow work and energy work, she naturally gravitated toward sharing her message with others. The process she went through allowed her to confront the limiting beliefs she held as well as her ego. Curiosity became the vehicle for greater insights and deeper connections. When you confront and embrace even the darkest qualities of yourself, you build the strength to bring upon an internal unity. Jenny shares how her ability to process all of her emotions and share vulnerabilities allows her to connect and clearly communicate abstract elements of growth. 10:11 – 18:45 JJ speaks about how on the other side of embarrassment is praise. The engagement with ones sense of vulnerability increases the power of attraction within that individual. By consistently finding your vulnerability and growing ever more comfortable with it, we unlock more of ourselves. Jenny touches upon the wisdom she has acquired through years of fire dancing. She says that we should embrace failure and use it to expand our idea of who we are in order to impact others. The group discusses the idea of personal breakthrough and how to use that knowledge to drive more conscious change. When you keep the personal insights that created the breakthrough in your mind’s eye with daily consistency, you can shift the baseline of your emotional state. When you heal, you discover a sense of inner unity. By creating that inner unity, you can view the world with a greater sense of benevolence. Another element that Jenny touches upon is the work she has done with her ego. By adapting a position of love in regard to her ego, she has been able to use the power of acceptance in the places where she once struggled to face within herself. She goes on further to explain that when we use judgment and tactics of aversion we perpetuate those same cycles we are aiming to avoid. In order to stay focused on the inner work, it is essential to meet yourself and others with love. This has an ordering effect which appeals to the healing energy of unity consciousness. 18:46 – 29:45 The discussion moves deeper into the work around understanding the ego. For what feels like a loss to the ego is a gain to the soul. By making oneself aware of the reactive nature of the ego, we as the individual can drive energy away from its power. Fire dancing has had a large impact on Jenny, its symbolic representation of transformation cannot be overstated. For Jen, the fire is a way to burn away the fear of being seen and being expressive. It also allowed her to burn away the guilt she once felt around having fun and experiencing pleasure. By letting go and burning always these illusions she has been able to liberate a great connection to her body as represented through her dance. Herein lies the liberating power of fire. And the massive changes she experienced in her personal evolution gave way to major shifts in her ability to guide and nurture others. When you let go of that which is false within yourself, the light within emerges. With a greater depth of self, Jen now is able to express and articulate complex esoteric topics/experiences to others. Here she can clarify and define what may seem overwhelming or confusing to others. This skill allows her to bring a sense of security and calm to intense group work. 29:46 – 35:38 The process of growth is tightly woven with an increased ability to love. Yet the path of growth in the spiritual realm is non-linear. Damien mentions an odd phenomena that has happened in his development where as he increased his capacity to love others, he noticed very negative and ‘venomous’ thoughts drifting through his consciousness. The group dives into the topic of meditation and the benefits of maintaining a committed practice. At deeper states of awareness, we the individual shift from experiencing the happenings of the body to being ‘the witness’. Jenny explains the power of being able to sit and be with even the most uncomfortable feelings. With the observation and shift into the witness, we become more patient and compassionate. JJ mentions Mandala Springs, a place where he visited in the past. Jenny had recently spent time there as well.. He points out the powerful effects that cold water can have on the mind. Tapping into the true power of your breath allows you to craft a massive shift where you can tell yourself that you ‘are ok’ whilst enduring the stress of the cold. The resistance around taking a cold plunge is a great test to bring yourself outside your comfort zone while strengthening your mind and building your mental powers of well-being. 35:39 – 42:20 The talks on cold water applications extended. The group speaks on the benefits of building mental toughness with challenges in the external world to create internal (emotional) order. This skill allows the individual to be something greater than a slave to their emotions. The cold water puts us in contact with a raw part of ourselves, that if harnessed can become one of the greatest alleys in our process of transformation. Jenny speaks on her profound experiences at the music festival Burning Man. Here she found inspiration for fire dancing, getting comfortable with performance and her self-expression. The power of the mini community of Burning Man helped her clarify a full vision of her art. 42:21 – 48:35 JJ speaks on how discomfort and times of increased stress cause us to ‘drop our shield’ and connect with our authenticity. When energy is down, we are unable to ‘keep up the veil’. So whatever raw emotions come out, we can be sure that by expressing our truth we can find our authentic self which brings deep connection which aids transformation. The discussion goes deeper into Burning Man and the radical expression embodied therein. Jenny describes the festival as a creative rebellion from the norms of everyday society. When asked Jenny her thoughts on what the name ‘Evolution Now’ means. JJ expands on her answer, he touches upon how our personal and professional evolution are not only intertwined, but furthermore how they play off of and feed each other. 48:36 – 54:00 Discussion on Poy, spinning fire props. How this practice serves the individual by balancing one’s sense of equilibrium. The group also touches on sacred geometric shapes and how the role they play in energy work. 54:01 – 1:02:57 A discussion on the ‘third eye’ or what Jenny calls the deep center of intuition. To open the third eye is to find your inner voice and use it as a guide. Episode wrap up and Jen’s go to quote: let go, and let flow. Events mentions and ways for you to connect with her. The following is a summary of the topics discussed in the episode with approximate time stamps. The ideas are all paraphrased, to find exact quotes from the hosts and guest, please watch the full episode. SUMMARY 0:00 – 9:15 Opening quote … There’s a war that wages in every person, there is a part of us that wants to be lost and a part that wants to be found. It’s how we reconcile these two opposite parts that determines our success because the journey to greatness takes both connection and isolation. The start of all wellness journeys starts with the individual. It’s the struggle and he answers that come along from searching. Once you find the answers it is only natural to want to share those findings with the people around you. The path of wellness is one of empowerment and self-advocacy. The same can be said with the path of learning to be more effective in business. Struggles lead to searching which leads to answers. One of the most telling predicates of success in business is the ability to sell. Because everything in life is sales; selling yourself to your friends, the people you date, to the interview process etc. 9:16 – 17:30 As you travel further down the path of wellness, personal development and mindset level up as well. The constant inner drive to sell yourself on yourself. Part of that development is journaling. Stream of consciousness and calling out negative patterns to foster a greater sense of gratitude. By adding a review to your journaling you are better able to build your awareness on that which is holding you back. With that deeper understanding you create a wider perspective that changes the way you act and adjust. Leveling up in life can also lead to leveling up in sales and business. There is a lot of noise and confusion out there and the way through it is transparency. When you communicate from a place of authenticity and share the good and the bad you make real connections. Be real to make real connections. 17:31 – 26:19 Being a ‘self-cleaning oven’ means cleaning up your shit on a daily basis. In order to do that in an effective means, you must use curiosity. Rather than passively accept thoughts and self-imposed limits, use curiosity to delve deeper and question why. Self-compassion blends over to compassion for others. By taking responsibility for yourself you clean up after yourself and learn to prevent the messes that were caused by lack of understanding in the first place. A greater awareness brings to light the shadow parts of yourself. By bringing these darker parts to the surface we are able to learn about them from a curious standpoint and integrate them into our conscious being. “We don’t see the world as it is, we see the world as we are.” Again using that framework to heal and build more compassion for yourself and the world. By building these habits of awareness we make ourselves better and thus raise the totality of mankind, if only by one small measure. Another important step to take is to avoid your cell phone first thing upon waking. Plenty of distractions will make their way into your day and by avoiding your phone you make sure that you start your day with your attention placed on yourself. Clarity is one of the most important qualities to have and with it you can see the actions you can take to be responsible for your well-being. Although breaking that habit may be difficult at first, it becomes easier with practice. Challenge yourself and get curious to see how much more clearer you feel by pushing back cell phone use 1 hour after you wake. Place your focus on yourself and build that inner unity that is paramount for personal development. Along with that sense of balance, you build your emotional IQ. The more you engage with habit change and uncomfortable situations, the stronger you get. With that strength comes a greater character that is more apt to take action in the areas of your life that will help you to grow. Taking action around uncomfortable conversations will also aid your development. “Do not sweep anything up the rug.” Clear is kind. For on the other end of the difficult conversations there is growth and positive change. 26:20 – 36:00 Clear conversations allow you to find resolution. When you are direct and are able to bring everything into the light in an honest and respectful way you cannot help but grow emotionally. The key is to always communicate from a loving place, that way when it does get intense you can communicate to the person on the other end that this pain has a purpose. That purpose is to help them better deal with emotion in the future. By repeating this process enough times, it is possible to desire and even crave those conversations because the benefit far outweighs the initial pain involved. Plus, journaling is useful but there is nothing like being in the trenches and doing the actual work. Do the do! Through the active engagement, the actual actions of your journey you become more courageous and mature. The combination of courage and maturity increases your capacity to deal with critical feedback which will directly access the areas of life you can find the most growth in. The importance of having solid mentors cannot be overstated. They provide perspective, wisdom and the inspiration needed to navigate the never ending path of personal growth. A person with decades more life experience allows you to appeal to your higher self; your capacity to love in the face of rejection or even betrayal. Having that awareness of your shadow along with someone with a high emotional IQ will allow you to have compassion for those who treat you poorly. That is the fasted way to continue on your path without getting distracted by the emotions of those who have yet to mature. To operate with grace is to embrace the toughness and elegance required to think and act with a CEO mindset. 36:01 – 41:00 Being reactive vs. responsive. When you find yourself choosing to respond you level up. You avoid messy arguments and situations that cause nothing but negative emotion and confusion. You can represent your character and your business in a respectable way. You can remain consistent outside of how you feel. To have success requires stoicism and presence of mind. It may seem counterintuitive but one of the ways to be successful online is, drumroll please, to stay offline first thing in the morning. Online success is greatly aided with a sense of authenticity and by devoting time to yourself, you can better serve others. You must train yourself to use your phone or you shall find yourself being used by it. And once again, you cannot rely on your feelings to guide your work. Most of the time you won’t feel like doing what you're supposed to do. So cultivate a strong mind and never let your feelings dictate your actions. Online success requires that you show up, day after day, relying on your long term goals to fuel your actions. 41:00 – 51:00 Motion creates emotion, so when you move your body your mind will follow. Going on walks can have a tremendous effort on your inspiration. The more you practice it the easier it becomes. Discipline is doing what you know you need to do, especially when you don’t feel like doing it. Coming back to the idea that looking at your phone first thing upon waking, it takes discipline to break that habit. But when you do you realize that you have opened up prime mental ground for setting up a more product trajectory for your day. With more focus on yourself, you can better access and direct yourself into actions that create resolution. When you create those boundaries you can more easily figure out what you need and when you need it. You find balance; the times when you need to be alone, or socialize, or simply being around people without the need to socialize. By mixing up the environments you inhabit you find different sources of inspiration – for work, for self, and for your sense of community. When you trust yourself to figure out your own problems, everything becomes an opportunity to build your level of self-trust. 51:35 – 1:00:00 It is easy to get sucked into work, so using your body in a completely different way can help you maintain a sense of equilibrium. And to balance out of the masculine elements of non-stop work, tapping into your playfulness via dancing can be extremely effective. There is a flow and sense of fun that allows you to let go and release stress. Dance will bring you into a different community which provides a powerful, yet fun support system. Outside of self-judgment and goals, the ability to let loose can have a grounding and restorative effect on your well-being. Evolution Now; the meaning behind the title is to expand in the present moment urgently. To engage with the process of growth and to keep growing because every human being is an on-going project until the day they no longer walk this Earth.
